Still Sequestered

I’m on my way to becoming one of those crazy old piano teachers who has everything piano-themed!

piano keyboard doormatBut it was so cute, I couldn’t resist. And my piano students are really the only ones who use that door.

After all, the dogs have their own:

bone jour

So the bad news is… we still have mice. We originally thought we had a lone ranger on our hands since we had seen no prior evidence (before my harrowing eyewitness event). But we’ve since caught another and determined that there may be even MORE! Where are those little guys hiding!?! So I’ve been hiding out.

boyd arm on pippaI couldn’t believe I caught Boyd with his little paw on Pippa C. while they were sleeping!!! Maybe they’ll be friends someday after all!!

Meanwhile, I’ve been on The Mouse Diet. It could be the next big thing. The kitchen, and the pantry in particular, are the places I’m most afraid to encounter a little mousey. Plus thinking about mice really makes me lose my appetite. I hardly ate anything yesterday during the day. Today Kevin was nice enough to pull out a box of chocolatey Special K for me to munch on during the day. :)

I also prefer to use only refrigerated ingredients:

turkey bacon eggs morning roundsOops — not a vegetable in sight!!! So that English muffin thing you see is actually a Morning Round.

morning roundsI see them at Sprouts every week, but I hadn’t bought them since they have about 50 calories more than regular English muffins. But they’re pretty awesome so maybe it’s worth it sometimes. And they’re BIGGER. I’m definitely a fan of that.

DIY WOD:

This was a tough one from GPP:

Puff & Push

4 rounds for time:

300 rope jumps
250 m row
20 bench dips
20 pushups (strict)
20 OH DB push press 15/20 ea.

Well, I guess I got to practice my newfound skill of pushups! I had to make a sub for jump rope since my little urban gym was super crowded! I knew I was going to injure someone if I tried to jump rope in that small space. So I tried subbing 50 box jump for 300 jump ropes. Do you think that’s fair? It was a pretty high box (20 inches?) so it took me a while. Then I decided to try doing box switches for 150. I’m not sure if either was a good sub. But I was slow and only did 3 rounds in about 32 minutes. I want to try it again soon when my gym isn’t crowded because I really need to work on those pushups and push presses! They’re so hard for me!

What’s your favorite pattern or theme for home goods? Polka dots, stripes, and, of course, piano keys. And confetti. Chevron is dead to me. So overrated and on everything. I like it, but I just want it to be over.

What trend do you want to end? The chevron, and the mice in my house!! And hi-lo skirts & dresses! And bring back pointy heels!
